Office Building Renovation
2021, Pafos, Cyprus
3900 m2
The site is situated on one of the entrances of Pafos giving it high visibility , and along a dilapidated sloped green area, along a water stream .
The goal was to create a strong reference point that would embellish one of the town’s main entrances and enhance the existing green area around it.
The main challenge of the brief was to transform the existing building into offices, allowing independent access and fluid circulation of the public to each of the 4 to 5 different companies occupying the building at the same time.
The 5 open plan floors had to adjust to requirements very specific to each department, but at the same time allow for future flexibility and readjustments to other possible uses.
The main concept was to enhance and simplify the shape of the existing building similar to a “horseshoe” following the curve of the crossroad. Two vail like curtain walls, with dynamic horizontals, that cover the offices, “embrace” and mark the transparent double volume of the entrance hall.
The main entrance spaces follow a fan like plan, extending to the external landscape in a radiant shape. Thus creating continuity between the interior and the exterior green area, and an inviting sense to the public
